Local Writing Resources for Young Authors

Hugo House Classes for Kids

Richard Hugo House is a home for writers and readers. Our mission is to provide writers of all ages and backgrounds with the resources they need, connect audiences with the world of writing, foster the creation of new work and promote the literary arts as a vital part of our culture. Through our writing classes for youth we encourage and inspire independent, young writers ages eight to fourteen in a safe and positive atmosphere.

These classes are not after-school tutorial or homework-help programs. Rather, they are based on a “studio model” artistic workshop, where young writers spend time talking, reading, writing, revising and performing—in short, practicing the skills of literacy to explore their imaginations and the world.
