October 15, 2007

Dear Families,

It is the middle of October and it seems like we have a lot of things going.   This week we will start the Ecosystems Unit in full, since we don’t have electives.    I only hope that we still get enough autumn sunlight so that they keep growing.

At 2:40 we have music and rhythm class with Larry

Wednesday we have a field trip to the Children’s Theater.   Make sure the slips are in!   Also, please pack a sack lunch for your child if you can.   We didn’t get lunches ordered in time so I will try to make some sandwiches to have, just in case.   I am ordering lunches for those who request it for next Monday’s field trip to the Green River to do plant Restoration.   If you would like to join us, parent chaperones are welcome!

10:00 bus leave school for Green River

10:30   Introduction

Overview of site adn what we are doing and why:   John

Overview of Earthcorps: Crew leader or member.

10:15 Break into about 8 groups with Corps members   Do planting demonstration and safety talk.

10:30-11:30 PLANT!

11:30-12:00 Lunch

12:00-1:00   Keep planting, taking breaks to do observations and learn

about plants.

1:15-1:30   Regroup and share accomplishments and observations together.

Starting today, October 15, We will be having Mr. David   Gardner an Explorations in Math math coach doing   number sense math lessons/ activities in our classroom for about 10 weeks.   Orca parents raised money last spring to get more math programs going!   This is the result of it.

There are no electives during school hours this week as the Sixth Grade is at Camp.

Thanks,

Sincerely,
Ms. Grow
