Independent Literature Book Group Activities:
-
Write at least 2 letters to your “book club” about your book –the first is why you chose the book that you chose and the second as you are reading it.
Dear Literature Group.
I chose my book for several reasons.
The first, the second & the ….finally.
I am reading this book and so far some things that I really like/ dislike about the book are:
*focus on characters
*development of story
*settling
I am wondering
-
about what might happen in the future
-
why something has bee set up the way it has
-
Find 10 vocabulary words that you would like to know their definitions.
Write the words and their definitions.
These should be words that are important to the story in some way!
-
Make a double bubble map comparing at least two of the characters in the story.
-
Do a final presentation: This can be a poster, a diorama or museum that you will share with your book group as you tell a short summary of the book!
It will be both visual and written so that it can go on display!
Book Group Rules:
You will need to meet 3 times.
Once this week and twice next week.
This week you will introduce the book that you are reading and why you chose it in your first letter.
After everyone has shared.
As a group I want you to make a large map of things you have in common as readers and ways you are different.
Next week
on Monday you will share your first Dear Book Group Letter.
The group will respond with questions and comments.
On Friday you will have Book club again.
You will share your final projects.
You may bring snacks for your group.
You will have 45 minutes to discuss your books.
I will have you fill in a sheet about the books you heard.
You will write 2 of the most interesting things you heard about that book.
You will write why or why that might not be a book that you want to read.
